Youth Health Advisory Board Fighting Childhood Obesity

Approximately one third of Lincoln’s elementary children are overweight or obese and for the first time in history, the life expectancy of children is less than that of their parents. To combat this issue, Teach a Kid to Fish has partnered with WorkWell to form a volunteer Youth Health Advisory Board working to improve the health of all family members.

Members of the Advisory Board advocate for health causes in our community and serve as role models for young children. These youth have helped to endorse the 54321GO! program in the community. The group meets once per month and members present to schools and daycares at least three times each year. Advisory Board members include: Nick Devine, Chandler Haefele, Rebecca Gronewold, Katie Krick, Claire Holmquist, Claire Karsting, Brendon Henning, Hannah Bassett, Michaela Bubak, Jenni Sherwood, Jacklyn Jablonski, Joel Spiehs, Jaiden Vyhlidal, Tobyn Wattenbarger

The primary initiatives of this Youth Working Group are:

1. To advocate for health causes in our community

2. To serve as role models to young children

3. To actively endorse the 54321Go program at schools, daycares, and worksites
