Overview

Many factors in Lincoln affect the health of our children.

Overview

*Does the design of my neighborhood encourage physical activity? Are there affordable community facilities for entertainment and recreation?

*Can my children pursue sports and leisure activities without excessive concern for safety?

*Are there healthful alternatives to staying-at-home sedentary pastimes such as watching television, playing video games or texting friends?

*Are healthy foods available in my neighborhood at reasonable prices?

Childhood obesity may be thought of as a medical problem however; organizations, groups and individuals have significant roles to play in making Lincoln more conducive to healthful eating and physical activity opportunities. All of us have a role to play and something to contribute.

Community-based prevention efforts will supplement and reinforce the healthy messages received in school and at home.
